Produced from the same Camellia Sinensis plant that gives us black tea, green tea is produced from leaves that have been only gently oxidised (or sometimes not at all). While it originated in China, green tea is now a part of many Asian cultures. It is also increasingly enjoyed in the West, due in large parts to its many revered health benefits. There are many differences in green tea varieties – depending on where the leaves are grown, how they were processed and how you brew them – but generally, it makes a light-to-medium strength tea with lovely grassy flavours and a clean, refreshing taste. It’s a great tea for anytime of the day, but is especially welcome first thing in the morning we think.
